Full brown calf with two leather clasps stitched to boards, both torn at fore-edge. Heavy rubbing, chipping at spine ends and loss at corners. Red spine label with gilt bands. Inscription front endpaper and previous owner's signatures at rear. (Leurendus B. Smith). Offsetting to endpapers, pages toned. Hinges secure and corners square. Lacking preliminary pages v-viii (final page of preface and first page of index) else very good. This edition includes one page of alphabet, illustrations of mariner's compass, solar system diagram, quadrant, sun dial, four geometric planes, plus the fold-out geometric diagrams.
